centennial beach

the j.c. Morrison

The J.C. Morrison was a passenger tour boat built in 1854 to showcase the beautiful Lake Simcoe to toursist. In 1857 it caught fire during the night while moored downtown. As everything was wooden during the era, there was no choice but to cut it free and push it out into the Lake. After it burned down to the water it sank just off the shore at Centennial Beach. This historic dive site is now the home of many fish, and makes for a great dive.
